Grain Free Nibbles
Since our core site philosophy is to provide single ingredient animal based healthy dog treats, you might wonder why we have a ‘grain free’ nibbles category at all.
The reason sits in the space that not everyone who wants a soft treat (we have an actual category for that) – wants one that includes any grains.
Most commercial dog food still uses plant flour as the major base for it, because corporations figure that animal based dog food would be too expensive for the big margins that they expect.
But some people want a dog treat that has just as much meat (if not more) in it, than their regular dog food. While each products description has a list of ingredients in it, we created this category to assist those looking mostly for small combination treats that didn’t have grain in them.
Some of the dog treats we place in the ‘grain free’ category, are 100% single ingredients, like most of our dog training treats. And some are the milk based treats we have such as yogurt and carob buttons.
But we also have a great range of treats we call ‘nibbles’ that are about double the meat and offal in them, than you will find in may dog foods.
Anyway, this is the reason for the category and how we go out of our way to help you understand genuine healthy dog treat choices for your dog !
Grain Free Dog Treats – Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why should I choose grain free dog treats?
Grain free dog treats are ideal for dogs with grain sensitivities or allergies, and they provide a cleaner, protein-rich snack without fillers like wheat, corn, or soy. We provide grain free in two main categories. Either 100% meat or offal, OR traning treat composites that replace grain with sweet potato – just like many grain free kibble varieties do.
Q2: Are grain free treats healthier for dogs?
Yes. Grain free treats are usually higher in protein and lower in carbs, supporting lean muscle and stable energy levels. They also reduce the risk of skin irritation and digestive upset. Even our Grain Free “nibbles” training treats have higher amounts of meat and offal in them !
Q3: Can puppies eat grain free treats?
Absolutely. Puppies can enjoy grain free treats, especially small bite-sized options that are easy to chew and digest. Except for semi soluble fibre that iteracts positively with gut bacteria, dogs dont have a great need for carbs at all.
Q4: What ingredients are used instead of grains?
Instead of grains, our grain free treats are made from 100% natural meat, fish, and novel proteins like kangaroo, emu, or goat. Nibbles dog training treats substitute grain for sweet potato – but are still very high in meat content!
Q5: Do grain free dog treats help with allergies?
Yes. Many dogs with itchy skin, hotspots, or stomach issues improve on a grain free diet, since it removes common triggers like wheat and corn.
Q6: Are grain free treats good for weight management?
Yes. Since they are leaner, protein-rich, and filler-free, grain free treats help dogs maintain a healthy weight when fed in moderation. Does gain their Energy requirement from the protein in Meats, instead of the carbs in plant material.
Q7: Can grain free dog treats replace my dog’s regular food?
No. Grain free treats are a supplementary reward, not a complete meal. Always feed them alongside a balanced diet. Note raw feeders still manage to create balanced meals, based on just meat, offal and bones, but for most people they prefer the convenience of buying commercial dog food.
