The high animal protein content of chicken lever is important to dogs, as the affco tables give a minimum level of 45% for maintenance functions. However if your dog is getting this from grain (or veggies in a regular commercial dog food diet), which has low bio availability, your dog may require something like chicken liver just to reach the bare minimum levels.

Because the B group of vitamins are water soluble, there are no maximum daily limits set for them, vitamin A is oil based, so there is a maximum that dogs can eat. The vitamin A  affco maintenance tables are have vitamin A minimum levels listed as a low 1250 IU  and the maximum at a high of 62,500 IU.

NOTE  100g of chicken liver has 14378 IU in cooked (but high water form 65% water) so even if the water content is reduced to 10%,  100g of chicken liver would still have under HALF the maximum allowable level - making it extremely safe and nutritious to eat.
